How do we love the Earth? Let us count the ways… January 21, 2010

Filed under: In the news, New Products — sjchildrensgifts @ 11:52 am

Who loves the Earth? WE DO! WE DO! With Valentine’s Day quickly approaching we thought of a few ways to show our love…

A delicious box of chocolates?

An ornate candelabra?

The Chronicles of Narnia box set?

……No, none of these things will do the trick. SO we decided to give our Earth a break, and develop a line of recycled t-shirts and hoodies for our Kid Tee division!

We’re also using fancy schmancy lead and phthalate free inks! Take a look at our feature on The Giggle Guide for more info on who’s keeping it real for Mother Earth!

And while you’re out there surfing the web, surf on over to our web store to find cute Earth inspired goodies for the kiddos!

It’s beginning to look a lot like…X-MEN? November 13, 2009

Filed under: Office fun — sjchildrensgifts @ 3:49 pm

It’s the most wonderful time of the year, and what better way to commemorate it than with the time-honored tradition of an SJ Christmas card!! Last year it occurred to us (at the very last-minute) that we should send a Christmas card out to our Sales Reps, customers, friends and super cool party people. So we gathered together for a snap shot so everyone could see our bright and shining faces. The only problem was that we were unaware of this photo-op when we were dressing for the day. Did I mention it was casual Friday? Here was the result:

Stephen Joseph Christmas Card Photo

Not too shabby with the exception of Sarah’s X-Men t-shirt. Although we received numerous compliments on the photo, we ultimately considered it a fail. I think people were just excited to see we had actual faces, and weren’t just floating voices that answer the phones. So this year we’re planning ahead, and we’re trying to decide what style of photo we want.

We could take a traditional office style photo, in business casual attire…

business casual

Very tasteful, very professional…… very boring. Or we could opt for a matchy-matchy, family style picture complete with color coordinating outfits and cheesy posing…

matchy matchy

This option seemed particularly practical since Shawn is the only gentleman in the department.

Or we could choose what we’re referring to as “Crazy Christmas” with tacky sweaters, antlers, giant mugs of cocoa and tinsel galore…

crazy christmas

After a very short deliberation, we decided on crazy Christmas (are you surprised?). Who wants a stodgy old Christmas picture anyway? Not us! Time to dust off the ol’ jingle bell jewelry…. we’ll let you know how it turns out =)

Attack of the 50 ft. Cotton November 10, 2009

Filed under: New Products, Office fun, Pat Investigates — sjchildrensgifts @ 12:54 pm

This morning the office was disrupted by a loud rumble. At first we dismissed it, until it continued to get louder and louder and closer and closer!! Since earthquakes aren’t the norm around West Texas we started entertaining our options for the source…..

Was it someone pumping iron in the gym upstairs? Did somebody drive a forklift into the wall? Was Pat’s family coming to visit…….

Nope. It was none of these, but we did eventually find out what was causing the whole building to shake: COTTON.  A huge 40 foot shipping container of cotton being delivered next door to be exact. As it was set on the ground it was so heavy, it sounded like a pack of T-Rex’s coming our way! We welcomed the disruption since Stephen Joseph Inc. is not only fans of Dinosaurs, but we’re also big fans of cotton! Check out our Dinosaur Quilted Backpack that combines the best of both worlds…

Stephen Joseph Races for the Cure! November 6, 2009

Filed under: Office fun — sjchildrensgifts @ 1:06 pm

In early October Stephen Joseph Inc. joined the 15th Annual Lubbock Race for the Cure!  Cancer research is a cause close to our hearts, and we as a company were thrilled to support the Susan G. Komen foundation for the second year in a row.  It was a cold and cloudy morning, but a great time was had by all!

We also spotted a young lady with one of our Butterfly Bottle Buddies, but she was so lightning fast we didn’t get a shot of it!

We encourage everyone to find a way to support cancer research in their area; For more information visit The American Cancer Society’s website.
